Project Amaleen

I moved to the Haliburton Highlands in 2023, not knowing how profoundly my life would change. The move reignited my creative spark and brought me back to writing music after more than five years away.

From that new beginning, I launched a project called Amaleen.

Amaleen is an evolving recording project that follows each song from its earliest form to its final studio recording — allowing the songs, and the community around them, to grow and change along the way.

Step One: The Seed 🌱

Each song begins as a simple acoustic recording that I write, perform, record, and produce in my home studio. These are the songs in their earliest, most intimate form — just voice, piano, and whatever else happens to be around. If you listen closely, you can even hear the cats stomping around in the background. These songs are uploaded to Bandcamp and YouTube!

Step Two: The Growing Season 🌿

The songs then leave my home studio and enter the world. I’ll perform them live with different musicians and collaborate with artists from a variety of musical and creative backgrounds. Through these performances and collaborations, the songs will have room to evolve naturally — changing with each new arrangement, musician, audience, and experience.

If you plan on attending a live show, be sure to check my webpage (www.lizzyclarkemusi.ca/joinin) to see if there are any sing-alongs! I’ll be posting song resources so that you can learn the tunes and join in by singing or playing along.

Step Three: The Bloom 🌸

Finally, the songs will make their way into a professional studio for their full recording — hopefully with a big enough budget to bring together some of the incredible musicians and collaborators I dream of working with.

The goal is to capture not just the songs I originally wrote, but everything they’ve become through the process: the musicians, collaborators, performances, audiences, and unexpected discoveries along the way.

Seed → Growth → Bloom.

That’s Amaleen.

Any funds raised directly support the next stage of the project by helping fund studio time, collaborators, and fair compensation for the musicians who help bring these songs to life.

Acosutic Demos

"Sure Thing" is inspired by the songwriting of Joni Mitchell, the fearless self-discovery championed by RuPaul, and the wisdom of Khalil Gibran; it's a reflection on the beautiful complexity of being alive. We spend so much of our lives searching for certainty, only to discover that love, purpose, and even ordinary days are far more complicated than we imagined. But perhaps that's the point. The struggles, contradictions, and unexpected turns don't stand in the way of a meaningful life—they're what shape us into who we're meant to become.

“Have You Considered Letting Go,” a song about taking time to care for yourself. It’s not about giving up or letting go of the things in life that bring joy; it’s about taking stock of the weight you bear. It’s about making the choice to unburden yourself of the things you don’t have any control over. Just because you’re strong enough (and I know you are) doesn’t mean you have to carry the world on your shoulders.
