Lizzy Clarke is a singing teacher and vocalist based in Toronto, ON.  Lizzy occupies a unique position in the voice world as a passionate, evidence-based voice coach (with 10 years of experience) with a background as a professional singer in pop, R&B, and jazz styles (with 16 years of experience.) She bridges the gap between vocal pedagogy and the music industry.

As a singing teacher, Lizzy believes that high-level vocal techniques should be accessible to singers of all levels and that music education is a universal right. She offers two categories of voice lessons: Technical Training for Professional Singers and Confidence Building Through Voice Work. In the former, Lizzy specializes in vocal sustainability for live performances and in the studio, guiding her students through vocal anatomy, breath management, vocal tract shaping, and range, all tailored to the singer's needs and goals. In the latter, Lizzy creates a safe space for all voice users to explore their vocal and musical expression.

          Lizzy is currently writing a book on vocal techniques for modern singers. The book summarizes traditional and contemporary vocal research through a pop/rock/R&B lens. The book will take advanced vocal technique off its pedestal to be applied by singers in the real world. It will explore well-researched topics like SOVT, flow phonation, resonant voice, and the ever-controversial vocal registers. The book will also include an introspective element allowing readers to assess their vocal habits, explore their power, range, and resonance, and address the emotions that propel the voice.

Lizzy’s performing career has allowed her to sing on stages worldwide, gain a loyal fan base, and make music she loves. She has extensive experience as a songwriter, arranger, front-person, backup vocalist, and bandleader. Her two most notable projects are the vocal trio The Spandettes and the Motown and Soul outfit The Intentions.

Lizzy is currently writing and recording a very personal original album. While the project is in its early stages, she is excited to share her unique voice with the world. Lizzy has always been known for her big vocal tone and ability to belt with the best. This album will be no different. 

Lizzy also offers backup singing and harmony arrangements for studio projects worldwide and is available for live performance showcases.

Lizzy understands the needs of modern singers because she is one. She uses her experience and functional knowledge of the voice to build up other singers AND to bring passionate energy to each and every performance she’s a part of.
